Dental implants have completely revolutionized dentistry and have now become one of the most popular dental services for several reasons. An implant is a surgical fixture that can replace broken, chipped and extracted teeth.
How Does a Dental Implant Work?
A dental implant is constructed with titanium at Wellness Dental Studio. It is then integrated into the jawbone as a substitute for the root of the lost tooth. A prosthetic tooth or denture can then be fixed on this implant and help you function like normal once again.
Types of Dental Implants
There are different types of implants that are indicated for different reasons. After a thorough examination of your teeth and gums, our dentists will be able to suggest the best option for you.
At our clinic, we offer 4 dental implant services:
#1: Single Unit Implant: This dental implant is best suited when you have a single missing tooth that needs to be replaced. It’s a simple and quick procedure.
#2: Full Mouth Rehabilitation: When your entire set of teeth and underlying gums are compromised, you might benefit from a full mouth rehabilitation dental implant.
This involves meticulous designing of the implant after taking impressions of your mouth, and great care to maintain the quality of the implant.
#3: Implant-supported Dentures (Bar or Attachment):
When one does not have any teeth in the jaw but has enough bone to support implants, an implant-supported denture may be recommended. It has special attachments that can snap into place on dental implants.
There are two types of implant-supported dentures:
Bar-retained dentures — A thin metal bar (that follows the curvature of the jawbone) houses the denture as well as special clips or attachments. These clips or attachments securely snap into place using the dental implants.
Ball-retained dentures — Each dental implant is fitted with a metal “ball and socket” type of attachment. The denture will house the corresponding attachment to the implant, making it easy to snap the denture into place.
Daily cleaning for the dentures is required. Do not go to sleep with it.
#4: All-on-4 Treatment:
In 1998 Dr. Paulo Malo successfully treated the first patient with the All-on- 4® treatment concept. Since then hundreds of thousands of patients have been treated with this concept using Nobel BioCare implants.
The All-on- 4® treatment concept is the best solution for full-arch treatment using tilted implants, but only when Nobel BioCare products are combined. Many have tried to mirror this groundbreaking concept, but Nobel BioCare has the scientifically documented success to back it up.
It is a minimally invasive solution with a fixed full-arch restoration for high patient satisfaction.
How Are Dental Implants Placed?
The procedure of placing dental implants is fairly straightforward. It is safe and comfortable surgery, performed under local or general anesthesia.
It can take about four to six months for the implants to fully get integrated and stabilized in your jawbone. Once that has happened, a prosthetic tooth can be placed to restore the look and function of natural teeth.
