In this procedure, we removed excess gum tissue around your teeth and make your smile look less ‘gummy’.

It’s important to discuss your concerns with our dentists and have a thorough examination done before deciding on a gum contouring procedure.
Is Gum Contouring Painful?
There is a little discomfort in this procedure because we apply a local anesthetic that numbs your gums and teeth. There can be some amount of pain after the effect of the numbing agent wears off. You will be given simple painkillers to cope with any post-operative pain that you may have.
Cooling the area with ice packs after the procedure is also recommended and will give you some pain relief.
Care After Surgery
You should consume light foods and plenty of fluids in the initial post-operative period. This will be more comfortable for your teeth and gums. You may also be prescribed oral antibiotics to stop any infections in the teeth.
Most patients will also require a follow-up visit to track the recovery process.
Is Gum Contouring Safe?
Gum contouring is a generally safe procedure. The only side effects that it can have are an infection that can be avoided with antibiotics after the surgery is done or a reaction to the anesthesia.
Is Gum Contouring Permanent?
Yes! Gum contouring is a permanent procedure that will remove the excess gum around your teeth permanently. Only in a very few percentages of people does the gum grow back.
