How is Gum Disease Treatment?
The treatment of gum conditions largely depends on the severity of the disease and your overall health status. Currently, our clinic offers three gum treatment options: closed-gum treatment, open-flap gum treatment and gingivectomy.
Closed-Gum Treatment
Closed-gum treatment is a popular choice among our patients because it does not require surgery.
In this procedure, we make use of non-invasive techniques to keep your gums healthy. This is done by utilizing medicinal products applied directly to your gums.
Closed-gum treatment is an affordable option and can be done as a part of our regular dental check-up and scaling.
Open-Flap Gum Treatment
For those with a more sever gum disease, open-flap gum treatment is a more effective option. This is a surgical procedure that lifts the gum and clean tartar underneath it.
During this procedure, other necessary treatments may also be done on the gum root to keep them healthy. The gum is then placed back in its natural position and stitched.
Open-flap gum treatment will require follow-up appointments for the removal of stitches and note the progress of your gum health.
Gingivectomy
Gingivectomy is a surgery that is usually left for last if other gum treatments fail. In this procedure, the diseased gum is removed from its roots and the remaining gum reshaped.
It is a comfortable procedure with lasting results.
